this new EP from Biatch Corp core member Karraskilla, a follow-up to last year’s Su Merced El Pimp EP, is another slice of sophisticated, throbbing late-night groove music from the Colombia- born, NYC-based electronic –music artist. “Tren Siete,” a dreamlike extension of the Queens subway line to Cali-Colombia, is a chugging, driving tune anchored by a rat-a-tat rhythm, its melancholy melody—defined by a series of muted bleeps—evoking the somewhat surreal vibe of a post-party ride home through the early-morning sun.
“Expreso Cali,” the final destination, works an equally subtle sound, with a throbbing bass leavened by ethereal harps—and when that wobbly, low-frequency synth line kicks in, it’s magic. As an added bonus, those harps and that synth reap- pear on the bonus CEO & Chairman Tool, a necessary weapon in any right-thinking DJ’s arsenal. The remixes add to the release's appeal: The Brendon Moeller version of "Tren Siete" is a luxuriously traveling tune, as exciting as Pawas’ submersive, funky recreation of "Expreso Cali." It’s another hot one for the Corporation, which in the span of four releases has worked its way into the record boxes of the techno/electronic-house world’s elite.
